PRO-LUBE, new formulation and new name for old Eco-Lube, is a wax and water emulsion specifically formulated for bicycle chain lubrication in all weather conditions. We add PTFE or Polytetrafluoroethylene, an additive that helps to reduce friction and minimize chain wear. This lube will provide cleaner drivetrains, quiet operation and good longevity. Optimum viscosity and low odor. A well-oiled chain with PRO-LUBE will repel dirt, mud and water.

Instructions:

For the first application, we advise degreasing the chain completely. Shake bottle and apply PROLUBE to the rollers on the inside of the dry chain while turning the cranks. When all rollers are completely white you can stop adding lube. Don't wipe it off, let it dry completely before riding. It is very important to allow the chain to dry completely before riding, especially in wet conditions. Never lube just before riding, even if you lubed the chain the previous day and the first application was dry.

For future uses clean the chain with a clean cloth before applying. Applying PRO-LUBE after each bike ride is the best way to keep the chain in perfect conditions, because PRO-LUBE will be dry and ready for the next ride, offering the best performance.

Never mix PRO-LUBE with oils. This will ruin PRO-LUBES’s properties. Old lube or oil will prevent PRO-LUBE from penetrating into the cavities between the chain pins, rollers and plates where it is needed for optimum performance. Other lubricants will affect PRO-LUBE causing low efficiency of the wax and leaving black or gray waste. If you have to leave the bike in a repairshop, remember warning the crew NOT to apply any chain lubricant other than PRO-LUBE, otherwise you will have to go through the tedious procedure of having to degrease your chain once again and restart the process.

PRO-LUBE application frequency will depend on the type of terrain, use and maintenance of the chain. In general, PRO-LUBE will last from 4 to 6 hours in dry conditions. This durability will decrease in wet conditions. Applying PRO-LUBE after each use is the best option because the lubricant will dry and be ready for the next ride. If you foresee wet conditions for the next ride, you should apply a second coat of PRO-LUBE the night before. This will allow it to dry completely before usage, and will ensure a greater resistance on your route.

Can I lubricate with PRO-LUBE wax on an oil-lubricated chain?

No, the first time you apply PRO-LUBE wax on a chain, this chain must be completely degreased and cleaned. The chain must be totally clean, without residues of other oils, and totally dry. If it is applied on a dirty chain, or with other types of previous oil, its properties will be lost.

Should I clean the chain after every ride and how do I re-lubricate it?

Yes, our recommendation is that after each ride the user wipes the chain with a dry cloth. You should rotate the cranks while holding a rag over the chain to remove any dust that may be on the chain. Once the dust has been removed, lubricate the chain again and let it dry. It is very important that the wax has dried completely before using the bicycle, or most of its cleaning and long-lasting properties will be lost.

PRO-LUBE is a thick lubricant, apply it drop by drop, slowly rotating the cranks. First, apply on the upper part of the chain. Then apply it to the lower part of the chain. The side faces of the chain do not need to be lubricated, they would only attract dirt. Allow to dry and do not remove the excess.

Can I use PRO-LUBE lubricant both wet and dry?

Yes, PRO-LUBE wax lubricant is formulated so that it can be used both wet and dry. However, its best performance is on dry terrain.

Should I wear gloves to apply PRO-LUBE lubricant on the chain?

It is not strictly necessary, the product is not corrosive, but it is a chemical product and the use of gloves is recommended.

How much PRO-LUBE lubricant should I use for proper lubrication of my chain?

The first lubrication should always be generous. The entire chain should be coated with the lubricant. We recommend not removing the excess. And finally, let it dry.
For the next applications, lubricate consistently, depending on the duration of the routes and the type of terrain.

For rainy and muddy days we recommend a double application: apply, let it dry, apply a second time, and let it dry again. Do not apply pro-lube never just before to go to ride the bicycle or you will ruin its performance. Let it dry always before your ride.

How often do I clean and degrease an PRO-LUBE lubricated chain?

In general, our recommendation is to wipe with a cloth every time you finish your ride and apply again a new coat.
Only in cases of consistent mud or dirt, it will be necessary to clean and degrease the transmission thoroughly with a degreaser. In these cases, we recommend using an X-Sauce bicycle cleaner-degreaser (the pink one).

Clean and degrease always with products that do not leave oily residues, and always allow drying of the chain before applying PRO-LUBE again.

Can I apply PRO-LUBE wax lubricant on the road bike chain?

Yes, no problem. The drivetrain will run very smoothly and stay cleaner for a longer time, long-lasting the entire drivetrain.
